The Naught for Hire comic book is coming to a future near you.Under the white-hot light of his intensive interrogation during the recent LA Creation Entertainment Tri-Con, Jeffrey Berman, Executive Producer/Writer of the upcoming web series, Naught for Hire, said that the first draft of the upcoming four-issue comic series - story boards and outline - are complete and in the hands of co-writer Ben Browder who is currently reviewing these preliminary documents and providing his notes so that they and John E. Stith can begin writing the first draft of the first issue.
Jeffrey also stated, while struggling to extricate himself from the hot seat, that his goal is to hire celebrity illustrators from the comics world to create the four (or possibly more) collectible covers. A publisher and printer of the series has not yet been decided, but much research has been done to ensure that these comics will be keepers.
Ben Browder has permitted his likeness to be used for Nick Naught in the comic, and that after an intensive search, a terrific artist has been lined up for the drawing and inking of the interior pages. After an additional pronounced prodding, Jeffrey went on to say that the comic is planned to have a retro look and they are testing a black and white noir look with splashes of color to accentuate the action in the frames.
The story takes place ten years before the action of the web series, and explores the origins of Nick Naught as a P.I. Even under the extreme duress we caused him, Jeffrey would not provide more details about the story, saying that telling more would be considered "spoilers."
The comic is scheduled to be out in time for Comic Con in July 2012.
